description Camp Round Meadow is a four-season dormitory camp with a dining hall. A wonderful location for group events and functions, visitors may choose either "Package 1" accommodating up to 90 people or "Package 2" accommodating 30 people. Originally used from 1939 to 1941 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the camp also operated from 1965 to 1969 as the first Job Corps Center in the nation.

The mailing address for Camp Round Meadow is: Catoctin Mountain Park, Camp Round Meadow, 6602 Foxville Road, Thurmont, MD 21788. From Washington, DC take the George Washington Memorial Parkway north to I495 to I270 north 27 miles to Frederick, MD. Take Route 15, 17 miles north to Thurmont, MD. Take Route 77 West, the exit sign is marked Catoctin Mountain Park. Travel approximately 6 miles west on 77 (you will pass Park Central Road and the park Visitor Center) and turn right onto Foxville-Deerfield Road. As the road forks, turn right onto Manahan Road. Continue approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into Camp Round Meadow. Park in the large gravel parking lot. From Baltimore, MD take I695 beltway to I70 West to Frederick, MD. Take Route 15 North to Thurmont, MD. Take Route 77 West (the exit sign says Catoctin Mountain Park.) Travel approximately 6 miles west on 77 (you will pass Park Central Road and the park Visitor Center) and turn right onto Foxville-Deerfield Road. As the road forks, turn right onto Manahan Road. Continue approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into Camp Round Meadow. Park in the large gravel parking lot. From Hagerstown, MD take I70 East to Route 66 North for 7 miles. Turn right onto Route 64 (East) for 1 mile then turn right at a traffic light onto Route 77 East for approximately 4 miles. Turn left onto Foxville-Deerfield Road. As the road forks, turn right onto Manahan Road. Continue approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into Camp Round Meadow. Park in the large gravel parking lot. From Gettysburg, PA take Route 15 South. In Thurmont, MD, exit onto Route 77 West (the exit sign says Catoctin Mountain Park). Travel approximately 6 miles west on 77 (you will pass Park Central Road and the park Visitor Center) and turn right onto Foxville-Deerfield Road. As the road forks, turn right onto Manahan Road. Continue approximately 3/4 mile and turn left into Camp Round Meadow. Park in the large gravel parking lot.
facilitiesDescription "Package 1" This package will accommodate up to 90 guests in three different dormitories (Building #s: 216, 217, 232) -- each dormitory accommodates up to 30 guests. The dormitory buildings are accessible and offer electricity and heat. Each dormitory includes 30 twin beds with vinyl covered mattresses and a set of cleaning tools. In addition, each dormitory has two bathrooms including flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. Guests with Package 1 have access to the dining hall, gymnasium, and conference room. The dining hall is a 1,746 square foot space includes tables and chairs to seat 116 people. The dining hall has electricity, is heated and includes fans as well. The adjacent kitchen is 384 square feet and can accommodate four people. The kitchen has electricity, is heated and offers various appliances, cleaning tools, dishwashing racks and trash cans. A bathroom is also in the dining hall. Trash service includes two waste receptacles. The gymnasium has an indoor basketball court, restrooms and showers, and conference room. The conference room is 765 square feet with a maximum occupancy of 51. Tables, chairs, projector screen, and dry erase boards are available for us in the conference room. Outside guests may enjoy a shared campfire ring with wooden bench seating and two picnic tables. There is also a gazebo outside the dining hall. The lit parking area is gravel and has 135 spaces. The parking area is not limited to visitors reserving Camp Round Meadow. "Package 2" This package will accommodate up to 30 guests in one dormitory (Building #218). The dormitory building offers electricity and heat. Inside the dorm, guests will find 30 twin beds with vinyl covered mattresses and a set of cleaning tools. In addition, the dormitory offers two bathrooms including flush toilets, sinks and hot showers. Outside guests may enjoy a shared campfire ring with wooden bench seating and two picnic tables. There is also a gazebo outside the dining hall. The lit parking area is gravel and has 135 spaces. The parking area is not limited to visitors reserving Camp Round Meadow. Guests that reserve Package 2 do NOT have access to the dining hall, gym, or conference room. CLEANING: Guests are responsible for cleaning and sanitation of the entire facility. All cleaning agents and supplies must be provided by the reservation holder. Items to assist with cleaning such as mops, buckets, brooms, dust mops, whisk brooms and dust pans will be provide by the National Park Service. Groups may choose to contract with a professional for cleaning services. The cleaning of all facilities must be completed by check-out time and the group leader must remain for a walk-through of the entire camp with the Park Ranger.

Smoking is prohibited in all park buildings. Hunting: Hunting is not permitted in Catoctin Mountain Park. Collection: The collection of berries and/or mushrooms for personal consumption is permitted. Contact the Visitor Center for authorized collection amounts. Pets: Pets are not permitted in Camp Round Meadow, however, they are allowed on trails throughout the park and must remain on a leash at all times. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Service animals are permitted in Camp Round Meadow. Safety: Camp Round Meadow and Catoctin Mountain Park contain wildlife that can behave unpredictably and transmit disease. All emergencies, accidents, incidents etc., shall be reported to the 24-hour National Capital Region Communications Center at 1-866-677-6677. Ranger Programs: Programs, walks and/or demonstrations may be available. Please contact the Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center at (301) 663-9388 for additional information. Check-in time is between 2pm EST and 4pm EST. Check-out is between 8am EST and 11am EST. Firewood: The transportation of firewood into the park is not permitted. Dead/downed wood may be collected. Firewood is also available in the park for a requested $5 donation. Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! orientationDescription The buildings in Camp Round Meadow are shaded by large trees. A grass field and outdoor fire circle are located within the camp. A variety of interpretive and accessible trails, exhibits, scenic vistas and picnic areas are within walking distance of Camp Round Meadow. Visitors will find abundant wildlife, freshwater steams and interesting geologic formations throughout the park. Catoctin Mountain Park, established in 1936, is located along the eastern portion of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A mixed hardwood forest covers nearly the entire park. Many plants and animals, including several Maryland Threatened species, thrive within this forest sanctuary.
recreationDescription A variety of hiking trails, as well as additional camping and picnic facilities are within walking distance of Camp Round Meadow. Rock climbing is available by permit at Wolf Rock . Fishing is permitted within Catoctin Mountain Park and nearby Cunningham Falls State Park. Fishing requires a Maryland fishing license. Cunningham Falls State Park, located within three miles of the Catoctin Mountain Park Visitor Center, offers swimming and boating. In the event of snow, areas throughout the park may be used for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Pets are permitted on park trails and must remain on a six foot leash at all times.
